For many people, their family’s future depends on their workers’ compensation case if they have been injured at work and cannot complete job duties because of their injuries. That’s why it’s important to report your workplace injuries as soon as they occur.
Once you report your injury and begin treatment, consult Andrew Injury Law to learn how our Nampa workers’ compensation attorneys can help with your claim.
When you get injured at work, you need to report the injury as soon as possible. Sometimes, depending on the extent and cause of the injury, it is not possible to report it immediately, but you should often be able to report your injury in a timely manner.
You will want to report your injury to your supervisor. According to Idaho Code §72-701, you only have 60 days to report the claim, so it is important to do so within this timeframe.
Some injuries, like soft tissue injuries and concussions, might not be apparent right away. However, if you are in an accident at work or feel anything out of the ordinary, seek a medical evaluation. A doctor can identify any invisible injuries that you need to report to your employer.
Some symptoms to watch for include:
Get medical help immediately to ensure you do not miss any deadlines if you do, in fact, have injuries. You might also consult a workers’ compensation lawyer for assistance with the claim process.

Now that you know how long you have to report your injury and file a claim, you are likely concerned with how to actually report the injury at work and the workers’ compensation claim process.
As mentioned above, you must report your injuries to your supervisor. This is the first step towards successfully obtaining workers’ compensation benefits. Within 60 days, report your injury – the sooner, the better – and your employer will file the report. As you now know, you might need to file this if they do not. Successfully filing the first report will ensure you have a chance at the compensation you deserve.
After reporting your workplace injury, the next step is to seek medical attention. You need to get your injuries attended to as soon as possible. The sooner you undergo medical treatment, the better your chances of improving, and the more evidence you have that the injury occurred at the workplace, the less likely your claim is to be denied.
You or your employer must file the claim within the appropriate timeframe and submit all supporting documentation, including evidence. You also need to be careful filling out the forms you submit, as any mistake can lead to issues with your case.
If you need assistance with the claims process, you can speak with one of our qualified and experienced Nampa workers’ comp attorneys at Andrew Injury Law.

Matt was very helpful in explaining the law and setting realistic expectations about my mothers case. He listened to the facts and gave solid advice about what to do next. I know his time is valuable and limited so I appreciated his complementary consultation and advice. I will definitely turn to him in the future.
